Self Esteem =)

Enjoy the video =)

What is Self esteem?
Self esteem means our opion about ourselves.High self esteem is a good opinion of ourself and low self esteem is a bad opinion of ourself.Your self esteem depends on many questions such as:

    * Do you believe you are successful?

    * How do you see yourself (your self image)?

    * How do you feel about your strengths and weaknesses?

What is Low Self Esteem?
-Low self esteem results from a poor self image.Your self image is based on how you see yourself. Do you think you are a good, reliable, hardworking, honest or  friendly person?

-Low self esteem also depends on other factors like your job. For example,do you value the job you do? Does the job you have help you be happy with who you  are?

-Low self esteem feeds your negative thinking and makes you believe negative comments others make. This can cause you to lose confidence so it is vital to  end negative thoughts if you want to build your self esteem.

What is High Self Esteem?
-High self esteem is the opposite of the above! If you have a high level of self esteem you will be confident, happy, highly motivated and have the right  attitude to succeed.

The Importance of Self Esteem
Self esteem is crucial and is a cornerstone of a positive attitude towards living.
It is very important because it affects how you think, act and even how you relate to other people. It affects your potential to be successful. Low self esteem means poor confidence and that also causes negative thoughts which means that you are likely to give up easily rather than face challenges. In addition, it has a direct bearing on your happiness and wellbeing. Read more about why self esteem is important.

Self Esteem is the Key to your Happiness and Well-being
-Building esteem is a first step towards your happiness and a better life. If you have low confidence or low self esteem you will find it impossible to be  the person you could be and your happiness will be limited.

-Self esteem increases your confidence. If you have confidence you will respect yourself and then you can respect others, improve your relationships and  become happier....this is not a selfish goal as you will contribute more and share yourself with the world and those around you.

-Low esteem causes depression, unhappiness, insecurity and low confidence. Other's desires may take preference over yours. Inner criticism, that nagging  voice of disapproval inside you, causes you to stumble at every challenge and challenges seem impossible.

How to improve your esteem and confidence?

1.Face your fears - Challenges seem scary but your fears are usually exagerated. Facing your fears increases your confidence and boosts your esteem.

2.Forget your failures-learn from them. Avoid making the same mistakes again but don't limit yourself by assuming you failed before so you can't succeed this time.

3.Know what you want and ask for it.Learn about  being assertive because you deserve your dreams to come true!

4.Reward yourself when you succeed.No-one else will!Isn't everything easier when you take time to help yourself? Make a list of your successes and focus on the positive things.

5.Talk- We often make assumptions about a situation or person which are not true. Your attitude and behaviour can be negatively affected so if you have any  doubt or question, ask people and do not assume you know why or how.

Media Literacy Skills ;)

Media literacy is an expanded information and communication skill that is responsive to the changing nature of information in our society.Like traditional literacy it includes the ability to both read (comprehend) and write (create, design, produce).Furthermore, media literacy moves from merely recognizing and comprehending information to the higher order of critical thinking skills as it implicit in questioning, analyzing and evaluating that information.Media literacy skill is important because most of the people get their information from television and pictures and thus we need a wider definition of what it means to be literate.

Most of us grow up hearing the proverbs like "never judge a book by it cover" and a "picture is Worth a thousand words".These words are becoming true today because of an age of computers and telecommunications.Today's technologies represent a surprising fusion of sight and sound that frequently make it difficult for us to diferentiate illusion from reality and fact from fiction.Special effects like those seen in movies like "JFK" and "Forrest Gump" merge the past with the present colour with black and white, the dead with the living and fact with fiction in such a way that the real truth can often be confused with the reel truth.

lt would be one thing if such technologies were employed only in the entertainment media, but increasingly these production values are evident in broadcast news. For example.a reporter in a TV studio is magically transported by computer onto the white house lawn. The mere location lends power, authority and therefore credence to the reporter and the story. This form of set decoration or window dressing is deceptive, especially when it is utilized during a program which is meant to provide us with factual information that we can rely upon. While such techniques may make the program more visually pleasing, they represent the emergence of infotainment and the decline of objective, neutral and reliable news.

Given these trends, responsible citizens need to possess the ability to question the accuracy and authenticity of information in all its forms. They need the ability to make reflective critical responses to this information. But media literacy is about more than just consuming information.A media literated individual is able to produce, create and communicate information in all it forms. As we approach the end of the 20th century, people will need the the information and communication skills necessary to live and work with multiple formats in the workplace and in their daily lives.Rather than simply typing print from page to screen, they will work with still and moving images, graphics and text. The organization and arrangement of these elements on the screen will require expertise in visual language and human perception. It will require individuals skilled in the design and display of information that is electronically produced, stored and accessed.

Smoking - Good or Bad ?

Smoking is a process for certain people who love to inhale and exhale hazardous substance from cigarettes, cigar or pipe. From my point of view, it can turn into a habit if you smoke regularly. It starts from being an occasional smoker at first but it may change into a habit.

Smoking can actually kill you. It is hazardous to your health and can damage your lung and heart. In addition, it is the most common cause of cancer. However, smokers didn’t think about the negative effects of smoking. It didn’t come to their mind that smoking can lead to a serious health threat.

Enjoy watching this video? Yes? No?

Well obviously your careless living by smoking will not only affect you, but also your friends and even worse, your family members. Do you want people you love to suffer just because of your careless or should I say stupid mistakes?

Children nowadays are being exposed to smoke. They feel that it is easy to communicate with the adult world by smoking. For example, your little brother is hanging out with his adult friend at the park and they’re having this conversation. . .

The adult friend: Hey bro! Why don’t you smoke with us?

Your little brother: I don’t smoke.

The adult friend: Whaaaatttt?!!! Smoking is good laahhh. You’re not cool lahh if you don’t smoke!

What do you think your little brother will say and do? His perception will probably change in any second right? In spite of this situation, children are weak because of the mistaken idea from the adult that smoking is a safe alternative to do. This leads to miscommunication. They didn’t even know that in reality, smoking cigarettes can greatly damage their health by deliver a large, addictive dose of nicotine. Children also want to try something that beyond their expectations by smoking just to be free from limitations and stereotypes.

So basically, we can conclude that the adult are the one who influence the children’s smoking behavior. They feel pressure not only from their friends, but also from their family who are smoking. In fact, parents should play the important role rather than to smoke in front of their children. If they do not take any serious precautions, their children may have the wrong interpretations about smoking in their life.

Who Are You ?

Let's talk about self-awareness! Have you ever wondered how conscious you are about yourself? Have you ever thought about who you are, what you want and why you want it? In this situation, you are the one directing your mind instead of letting it direct you. Well, a lot of people intend to clarify this situation but they do not know how to direct their thoughts wisely. Knowing our likes and dislikes, our strengths and weaknesses and even our own personality includes in self-awareness.

“Knowing others is wisdom, knowing your self is Enlightenment”
- Tao Tzu -

Self-awareness is also an essential for effective communication and interpersonal relations, as well as for developing empathy for others. Some people say that happiness is created through self-awareness. You yourself are the only one who can determine the thoughts you think, the words that come out of your mouth and the emotions you create. Even children nowadays can express their feelings through emotions.

As we can see, based on the video, Tan Hong Ming challenged himself to express his emotions of love and express emotions out of his reactions of fear. They didn’t even force him to express his feelings but yet, he’s the only one who wanted to express it and he can change what he believes in any second. Anyhow, by letting your mind express what you feel can actually change the possibilities in your life.

In conclusion, it is important to have self-awareness in life. By self-awareness, you will be able to understand and have the mentally to control over your thoughts and beliefs, also your expression of emotion.

Miscommunication

Miscommunication is the misunderstanding and misconception of messages between two or more communicating parties. It may be caused by a number  of reasons among others, not paying attention to what is being said therefore hearing differently from what is being said. This usually happens in the classroom where a daydreaming student does not pat attention to wat is being taught and so fails to understand the topic. Also,it occurs among defensive people who do not pay attention to the other party's argument but only listen out for what can be used against the speaker and so misunderstand the whole argument.

Secondly, miscommunication may be caused due to the lack of communication itself. For example, when a close friend does not speak to her friend the whole day, when she passes her in the hallway, she does not even shoot her a glance. In the mind of the mistreated friend, she thinks that she has offended her friend dearly in a way she is not aware of and yet actually, her friend,a poor communicator that she is is merely having a bad day and has not spoken to anyone the whole day.The lack of communication could lead to the creation of assumptions, most of which are false.

Public communication :D

Do you guys know how to talk in front of crowds?

Yes / No ?

For me , yes i do this always .
When i think back to my first ever presentation in HELP , I feel so nervous and scare of my teacher . ( not specify teacher's name )

I think this happen to everybody , isn't it ?

Kay , what should you do if you talk in front of crowds ?

In my opinion , the perfect ways are .. ^_^

1)To calm yourself first .
2)You have to deal with yourself first before dealing with other things first .
3)Practice in front of mirror at home and your friends .
4)Understand what you want to talk .
5)Prepare yourself by surveying the room you are presenting at before your presentation.

Problem of Communication

i remember that day Mr.Murali let us watch movie in the class...
i forget the name of movie but i only remember a character in the movie name "Manuel"..
Manuel is a waiter in the hotel, but he can't speak english as well and he also can't understand english as well.
Manuel do many funny action in the movie because he don't understand what his boss talking although he try to learn.

he had reflect myself...
my english is very weak...
this make me can't understand what topic my friends discuss...
i always can't understand what lecturer teaching and talking...
i always can't understand what knowlegde in the note or book...
i always can't understand what kind of the question in the exam paper test about...
i only can guess the meaning i don't know....
but i always guess wrong...
and always do the wrong things...
that is a big problem for me...
we can't always receive the same message from the people who send a message...
like Manuel misunderstand what his boss order him to do...

All argue and conflict happen because of misconceive or misunderstanding of message...
