Guidelines for Avoiding Common Mistakes of Intro and Conclusion

Do not start the speech immediately. Some people will start straight with the main idea without even greeting the audience. That is obviously due to feeling very nervous. Get up on stage, face the audience, take a deep breath (don't la until semput) and start your speech. There's no need to rush, remember. Relax.

Don't apologize for nerves or preface your introduction. If you forgot to state your point, just go on. There is no need to apologize to the audience. They won't even know if you did not tell them. After all, we the speakers are the ones who are giving out information to them, so they should be thankful for that!

Do not display discomfort or displeasure a.k.a do not show your 20 cent face while speaking. If you come up on stage with a sour face, who in the world would enjoy your entire speech? The audience would probably throw empty bottles and rubbish at your face.

Don't race away from the podium after the speech. That shows that you have low self-confidence. Take your own sweet time and ask the audience whether they have questions to ask or not.

Try your very best to avoid mistakes but if it is unavoidable, just smile and continue your speech as though nothing happened ;)
