I believe that books only supply raw materials for learning purposes. After facts are learned, they need to be interpreted.Discussions with others often helps to remove misconceptions and frequently provides a solution to some difficulty that has been holding us up.It can give you a fresh viewpoint and a fresh impetus to study. The act of communicating and explaining your work to others can serve to clarify your own thoughts. There is no doubt that it is admirable to solve your difficulties without the help from others, but an unwilingness to discuss with others is one of the less desirable characteristics. The tradition of invidual work is strong in our educational system and students are not encouraged to talk to each other or work together. In general, the individual is expected to learn to rise or fall by his own efforts, and is not required to co-operate with others or to help them.In the 'traditonal education' system, teacher or lecturer speaks and the class listens. This indicates that communication is all one way and will result in boredom and lack of interest in students.
When you are at work alongside others, speed of work will increase. They will also stimulates motives and interests. Some tasks are carried out more naturally and more efficiently by more than one person. Furthermore,in study, group discussion is useful as a method of solving problems as in enabling facts and theories to be brought into perspective. When we work in a group,we will get to share ideas with others n will have a better picture about a certain topic. The various form of group work lead to more active participation in studies.Active participation not only generates interests, but leads to better long-term retention. In problem, solving, groups are more accurate then individuals because they make more suggestions, and are quicker to reject incorrect ideas.
