Social networks in communication

Facebook,Twitter,Myspace. These and so many others are taking over cyber communication not only among teenagers, but also among adults for both social and business related issues. These internet hot spots have provided an avenue for age-mates and friends to link up no matter the distance between them and has also eased business transactions through easier publicity and contact with customers far away.
Through such networks one may in a way advertise oneself as one tries to get as many friends as possible by posting statements about themselves like 'I am a lovable, caring, funny person,' regardless of whether the statement is true or false, thus providing the opportunity for them to enjoy high self esteem even though it may not always be the case.
Social networks also help those who find it easier to express themselves more openly through writing. For example,on facebook there is a space where one may write what's on their ming at that moment. This helps releave people's minds of stress and deliver harsh messages in a relatively softer way.Through, social networks, the risk ofmiscommunication is also reduced to an extent because of the absence of non-verbal communication. However, miscommunication may occur when messages are not perceived correctly due to the lack of facial expression or voice tone.

Unfortunately, these networks are sometimes used wrongfully to damage people's reputations and hack into people's accounts to find out personal information about their enemies and so on.
